Dealing with Your Kids’ Tantrum Wisely
Some kids have tantrum. And it usually occurs in one-to-three-year-old kids.
So, if you are parents with children in this age range, prepare yourself to deal with their screaming, hitting or kicking.
The bad temper usually comes when …
- they feel uncomfortable about something,
- they want your attention, or
- they can’t have anything they want.
In short, the tantrum comes when your kids disagree with you, their parents.
Some parents see tantrums as disasters. But this point of view actually can change into something better.
See it as a way of education. An education to let your kids learn how to control their anger, their emotion.
How? Here are some of the ways …
- Instead of conducting them to do something, for example “You’d better go to bed now.”, offering them limited choices is a better technique, such as “Do you want to go to bed at 7 or 8?”
- When the tantrum occurs, move to another environment or place to change their mood and hopefully will lessen their frustration.
- Stay cool and calm when your kids begin the tantrum. Anger and threat are not the best ways to deal with it. In this situation, speaking clearly and firmly is a very good method to handle the tantrum as well as to teach them how to control their emotion.
Good luck with the kids!
