How to Enhance Your Children’s Language Skill
Language skill develops through daily activities. Children learn from their surroundings: from parents’ words and from what their parents teach.
It is best to stimulate them as early as possible. There are some ways to enhance your children’s language skill.
1. Respond spontaneously - Whenever your children show their expressions, it is the best moment to respond them. They learn new words from you.
2. Do it slowly - Your child needs some time to respond your expression. Do it slowly and clearly.
3. Teach by instructions - For example: “Kiss Mommy!” or “Wave at Daddy!” Don’t forget to show a cheerful expression while doing this.
4. Talk about the environments - It is your job to introduce them to new things in their surroundings. Let them be familiar with the atmosphere, such as the wind breeze, the hot air, the bird’s singing, etc.
5. Stimulate them frequently - Don’t hesitate to take your children into a discussion. It doesn’t have to be in a particular time. You can open a conversation, for example, during breakfast or dinner, about how they like their meal.
By stimulation, you’ll find your children enhance their language skill. However, you should keep in mind that if they are not eager to say/express something, it does not mean they are not listening or learning. May be they are not in a good mood. Try some other time and keep stimulating them.
