Tell Them You’re Proud
You see the kids are getting bigger and bigger. And, you realize that they are no longer kids. They are transforming into teens.
Some parents would just think that they are too big for anything. They no longer give advice, they no longer praise the kids. They think that these kids don’t need any of them.
Well, actually they do. They just prefer that you do it differently.
I remember when I was a teenager and my parents talked about stuff with me. Mom took me shopping. Dad took me to my favorite restaurant. We simply talked. They never say, “You have to…”
I didn’t realize that they were actually giving me advices. But, it build my perspective.
And, when I graduated with flying scores, they told me how proud they are of me, in private. You know, you’d get embarrassed if your parents say it in front of your friends. So, they were wise enough to do it in the house, while we were having dinner.
I think that’s what I’ll do with my kids. I’ll try to show my being proud of them in the wisest way possible.
