What Makes You Change an OB?
Just curious…
My friend has been changing her OB/GYN about 4 times for the last 7 months of her pregnancy.
Well, I understand that you need to be comfortable being taken care of by the OB because you’re handing him/her your life and your baby’s.
Yet, I believe that changing again and again won’t help you build a connection with the OB. The comfort and security you’re looking for won’t be obtained.
I never changed my OB since my first child, Olivia. The same one also took care of my delivery with Jerome. Up until now, I still come to him for my regular visits.
Maybe I was just being lucky to get such a wonderful OB. Even my husband also feels comfortable to ask questions–most men might be embarrassed to ask specific kind of questions, I believe.
My 3-times-changing-OB/GYN friend said that she never got a clear answer from her first OB/GYN. Her husband also felt like the OB/GYN was a weird person for being annoyed if they asked questions.
The second one, according to her was a very slow person. The third looked like a playboy (this is the silliest reason of all!).
Thankfully, she called me last night and said that she was comfortable with the 4th one. The new OB/GYN looked smart and handy.
Well, if you think you should find a new OB, that’s your choice. But, if you’re already comfortable with him and the clinic, you’d better not do that! Unless, you have your ‘personal’ ’specific’ kind of reason. ![]()
