How to Encourage a Baby to Crawl
How old is your baby? Six months? Seven? Eight?
If he’s on that stage of age, I believe he’s ready to crawl. However, there are babies who don’t never crawl, they just slither on their tummies or go straight to walking to get mobile.
Yet, it’s ok for you to encourage your baby to learn crawling. How?
- Simply put him on his belly
- Place something that might be interesting (can be a colorful ball, toys, anything that can be rolled on) in front of him
- Roll the thing on about 5 inches
- Roll it back on to him, do it three times
- Gently hold him by his elbows and draw both elbows towards his body as if he wants to lie on his/her elbows
- Measure, or try to get some measure of the distance between the floor and your baby’s armpit in the supported position
- Get a roller (can be a rolled towel)with approximately the same diameter as you’ve just measured
- Place it underneath your baby’s upper body with elbows touching the ground in front of the roller
- Get down on the floor directly in front of your baby with the colorful thing in your hand, right in front of his face
- Roll it slowly and see if your baby follows it.
Good luck!
