Not Breastfeeding Leads to Guilt?

When you’re expecting a baby, what plans do you have already in your mind?

I bet breastfeeding is in the top of the list. At least one of the tops.

WHO also recommends that exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months is an optimal way of feeding infants.

But, what if some women CAN’T breastfeed their babies? Is there guilt in their heart? Or in other words, formula use leads to guilt?

Martha did feel this way. She even started her post with “Here comes another guilt trip”.

Meanwhile, Jordan’s mom decided to give up breastfeeding for the better interest of her child.

What Diana had written may hopefully soothe women who are unable to breastfeed.

Mama Drama also expressed the same point of view.

What about you?

First, I’d like to thank you for the comment you made on my site, it meant a lot to me :)

It’s nice to know that there are other mothers out there who feel the same as I do.

I just wrote a comment on this issue over at MotherPIe; it really bothers me that guilt seems to be the first weapon of choice in the movement to promote breastfeeding. If you create the right conditions (at least 6 months of paid maternity leave, breastfeeding clinics, etc.), then the majority of women will choose to breastfeed. The guilt trip doesn’t do anything to promote breastfeeding - real help adn real support does.
