LOL! I shopped right away! I couldn’t help myself=) I bought a little here and there and that adds up! I almost didn’t have anything left for anyone to buy me for my baby shower. Just keep that in mind though because it is so fun to get gifts!!!!Husbands are always the biggest worriers. thank goodness for them;)

It is too early, honestly you can still miscarry. It is a horrible thought, but it is a reality. I have a miscarriage at 8 weeks in February and nothing makes a miscarriage seem more real then it actually happening. I had already picked out the baby book and started to prepair my two year old daughter for a new baby (even though she has NO CLUE what I was talking about) and a toddler bed and daddy had even started teaching her to be gentle with her baby dolls and with mommy. I knew for 3 weeks before I miscarried.

Imagine how you and your husband will feel if you have all these baby clothes and then the unthinkable happens and you miscarry. You are already going to be in a ton of pain because you lost your baby and now you have all the reminders sitting around.

I had my pregnancy test saying i was positive sitting on the bathroom counter for over three weeks and the day I passed my first clot I got mad and threw it in the trash and threw the baby book in the back of the closet. My fiance went and took the test of the trash, I found that out later on when i was going through Ally’s baby things and found her test and said I wished I had kept it, even if I did miscarry. He pulled it out of the drawer and gave it to me, I put the miscarriage date on it and put it with the other baby things. The baby book is still packed.

I didn’t start getting clothes until I was about 7 or 8 months, but I also knew I was having a girl too.

Everyone says wait until after the 1st trimester….then you are pretty safe. Buy resale, used, craigslisted or yard saled and do not buy just infant they grow way to fast and you will have spent all your money for nothing. My friend has a ton of new baby boy clothes she never even got to take the tags off of…..

There is no bad luck shopping early. That is only a superstition. My wife and I shopped during her pregnancy anytime we were out and saw something that we wanted.

It helps if you know the sex of the baby ahead of time for specific things. Otherwise, people usually go with yellow or green colors.

Wait til after your first trimester, which is the riskiest time of your pregnancy. After that, it’s good to spread out the expense by acquiring things gradually - the furniture and diapers alone are the bulk of your expense. You can get cute clothes closer to delivery, when you know if you’re going to have a pink baby or a blue baby, and by then will have gotten your baby a chest of drawers, so you’ll have a place to put the cute little things.

Something else to think about - Maybe your husband isn’t happy about having to share you with someone else? Could he be feeling jealous or displaced?

as soon as i found out i was pregnant, i started buying things, no i don’t believe in all that “its bad luck” drama either, just keeps receipts and tags on till its time to wash or use them. always better to start early and be prepared then to not.

Bad luck, Well the only time superstitions are true is when they coincidental happen at the same time as a everyday accordance happens. The excitement and joy you feel right now should not be shadowed by the worry of superstition. Enjoy every moment because they are when they are gone all you have is a memory. What do you want to remember?
    FEAR OR JOY!

i’ve always heard it was bad luck to shop early .. plus why would you shop before you knew the sex of the baby.. so i would say wait until you know what you are having that makes a little more since

I found out the sex of my baby at exactly 18 weeks. The very next day I went out and shopped for clothes.
I wouldn’t start getting too excited with the clothes just yet, wait till you know what you’re having, and even then… try not to go overboard, because you’ll get a ton and I do mean A TON of clothes at your baby shower if you’re having one. Don’t buy too much NB stuff though - a few onesies and sleep’n'plays should do you some good for the month baby will be in them. Go for the 0-3 and 3-6 month clothes!

I don’t think it’s “bad luck”, but maybe jumping the gun a little bit.

You don’t really know what you’ll need… boy or girl, or even how big the baby will be. A lot of people stock up on newborn sizes, only to have a baby that won’t fit them or outgrows them within the first few days.

If it inspires you, go treat yourself to buying a few necessities you know you’ll use. There’s no real harm in getting excited, just don’t go buck wild!

girl, i shopped as soon as i found out the sex of my baby. It is never to early to shop. I will say that don’t go overboard because they grow so fast!!!!! my son has only worn some outfits once and he already grew out of them so shop but do it in moderation!!! It is a woman’s right to shop so have fun
