The right baby clothes??
My friend is having a baby boy due in December and her mom is throwing her a baby shower in December as well. I was starting to think of what kind of clothes I should get for him, as in should I buy him baby clothes for newborns or some that he can grow into? It would be great if someone could tell me how they go about months on baby clothes. Thanks!

Get him clothes for 3-6 months or 6-9 months for him to grow into. I’m sure more people will be getting him newborn clothes which some consider so much cuter.

ok i think that it is best to buy bigger clothes for the baby to grow into.everyone buys all the cute little newborn clothes!if you do buy small clothes newborns or 0-3 is what you would get in the winter clothes it depends on the brand which way the size will be written…depending on where you live the baby should be in winter clothes up to the size 3-6 months.in the 6-9 i would buy summer clothes…also as a mother of 2 diapers are a great gift for baby showers..in these also buy size 2 cause they will get all the smaller ones from so many people!!good luck and congrats to your friend!

get clothes for him for when he’s older like 6 months or above so like get him clothes that are apporate for spring or summer. My baby is 3 1/2 months and i have to go out and get winter clothes for him cuz most of my clothes i got at my shower where summer clothes for when it’s winter… crazy huh?

Get the baby 24 month clothes or even a size bigger. Your friend might think you’re nuts at first because the clothes will look so big but trust me, in two years, she’ll thank you again. My daughter is now bigger than anything she got at any of her showers and I basically had to go on a shopping spree to keep her clothed!

You’re best bet is to buy clothes that the baby can grow into. Babies grow very fast, and if you buy them a 0-3 month outfit, they may wear it once, if they’re lucky. Go for at least a 6 month outfit, But a 12-18 month one would be an even better choice.

Beautiful baby blankets are very nice gifts to receive for winter babies. If she hasn’t gone shopping and does not have anything then I would buy her nice little warm onesies that are size 0 or newborn. Babies grow so fast so I would also invest in some clothes for 3 to 4months. Sometimes you want to look at the weight also on the clothes. She could have a really big baby who would wear a size bigger even as a newborn. Good luck

I would get the anywhere from 6-9 mos to 12 mos .. most people buy 0-3 and 3-6 months for baby showers not to mention the cloths she will buy herslelf. I know I was so greatful that I didnt have to buy alot of clothes when my kids started getting older because my mom had gotten me 6-9mos and 12mos clothes it worked out great!

I agree with the rest. Buy clothes he will able to wear in the summer.

be even safer and get a 3-6 and then a 12 month old outfit. it sounds crazy but if shes tight on dough, it helps when they start outgrowing their outfits and she has one that he can get into earlier. or just buy supplies like diapers and wipes and baby shampoo.. we appreciate those the most

Buying baby clothes is a risky business. Typically people go by 3-6m or something. The problem is, every baby grows at different rate, he/she can be smaller or bigger. By the time they fit into the size that fit them, the clothes would be for the wrong season.
Get him some toys, it’s a much safer bet, and would last a lot longer. Like some baby books, blocks, mobile, things like that.

I suggest buying 0-3 months or 3-6 months. Babies grow out of newborn clothing quickly if they even ever fit in it (my daughter didn’t) Usually they get alot of 0-3 months at showers so you may want to go ahead and get 3-6 months. But just figure in the seasons, I got alot of clothes my daughter could never wear because of the season. Plus get a gift receipt or save the receipt so she can take them back if need be.

My boys were big babies so they didn’t wear newborn (0-3mo) very long. I asked for 3-6 mo so I’d get more use out of them. As far as the months go that is just a size my 6 mo old wears 12mo clothes. Since it’s in Dec maybe get her a 0-6 mo bunting and a pack of 3-6 mo sleep and plays.

Buy clothes he can grow into, 3-6 month or 6-9 month, but make sure you buy clothes in the proper season. I was given a lot of 6-9 month winter clothes when my guy is 8 months over summer, and he cant wear any of the clothes cuz its just too hot!
If you plan on buying more then one outfit, it may be nice to include a 0-3month outfit. For me, I got a lot of older clothes and no newborn clothes and my gtuy was small and couldnt fit into any of his baby shower presents for a long time…and I couldnt afford to buy him many newborn outfits so I had to do laundry like every day inorder for him to stay in clean clothes.
Just a thought, hope I’ve helped

Newborn clothes are a bad idea, because if it is a big baby they won’t fit anyway.
3-6 or 6-9 month sizes are a good idea.

When I buy clothing for a baby shower I buy 1 outfit in each sizing group of 0-3, 3-6, and 6-9m. If the child is due in the fall all have long sleeves and are warm. If the child is born middle of winter I would do 2 with long sleeves and one with short sleeves. If born in spring I would do one with long sleeves and 2 with short. Some places have the 6 piece mix’n match sets that come both long and short sleeve, pants and shorts, hats and socks. I would find out if she is signed up somewhere on a baby registry and buy from that list first. Other things to think about are onesies, socks, bibs, blankets.. ect. These can be bought in different sizes and work all year round.

Baby clothes are (typically) inexpensive. I would imagine you plan to buy one or two outfits? I would buy something that fits now, something for 3-6 months and something for 6-9 months. Keep in mind the time of year and the age of the baby so that you may want to buy long sleeves vs. short etc. I just had a baby he is now 3 months old and It was really nice that folks bought clothes for newborn through 12 months. In addition it was extremely nice to get other needed items. My friend who coordinated my shower asked all my guest to bring a package of diapers of any size. That helped me so much that I have still not had to buy any diaper! So maybe think about those types of gifts too.

Get him items for when he is 2 or even 3 years old… like his first SNOWSUIT!!! haha. But seriously, if you want to be really unique, get her a gift card, or start a small trust fund.
Pros of option 1:GIFT CARD
Um, I don’t care how prepared you are, gift cards are neat when it’s 2 AM and baby’s out of formula/diapers/wipes!
Option 2:TRUST
Hey, it may only be $25/100, but over time it will gain interest over time, and who knows… baby may go to college and has Auntie (you) to thank for buying a couple of books or even yet, necessities for campus living.
Babies only wear things briefly, and most items stain due to formula it’s not even worth it. Trust me, she will be getting a truckload of onesies, booties, and such. Give a gift that stands out!

Get her a target giftcard so she can buy what she wants, including things like diapers. Everyone forgets about diapers and how much they nickle and dime you to death. My newest son is 3 months old and still wearing his 0-3 month clothing… all my friends got him 3-6 month stuff in summer styles and by the time he can fit into it, it’s going to be winter so all those cute clothes will go to waste.

Might sound a bit boring to you but a really nice blanket, hats/mittens set, cardigans, sox for that time of the year went down a lot better with me than a dodgy outfit that quite honestly, may get chucked cos you would never put the baby in it. Sounds a bit practical but it might go down better and I bet would be more appreciated and used.

Start buying from over 3 months have a range of warm and cool weather. You just need a basic assortment of newborn. Every child will be different.
I was expecting to have a baby in the normal range 6-9 lbs, but she ended up being almost 10 lbs. We never got a chance to use much of the newborn clothes or diapers. If you do get clothes, or anything else, be sure to keep the reciepts so you can exchange or refund. I have ended up inheriting baby clothes from a cousin who went crazy with her little one.

When I had my shower most people got me things for my son to grow into and a just a lil stuff for him to wear then. I really loved the fact that they were thinking about him wearing things in the future. It kinda made the shower better, because they were realllly thinking of him as he grows.

An execellent idea would be if possible getting her something that is newborn (like a gown) something that is 0-3 months and something that is 3-6 months so that way the baby has something during the first 6 months that he can grow into. At wal-mart a 2 pack of gowns is like $6 and sleepers or onesies can be purchased for 3-6 & 6-9 month for like $6 so total you would be spending less than $20!

Definitely buy clothes that he can grow in to. My son mostly wore little onsies, or pj’s as a newborn. Maybe buy her some cute summer outfits for her son, that she could utilize in June. There on sale now also, so you could find some good deals! Look for 6-9 months sizes, since he’ll be six months old in June. Maybe find an outfit with a cute hat, since he’ll need one to protect his face from the sun!

I would say that you shouldb uy him like one outfit or something in 0-3 months and get a few in 3-6 cause everyone will get him cute cute newborn clothes. Get him something that he will grow into!! Also I might wanna suggest not buying newborn diapers…buy a size 1 diapers insted…if you were going to buy diapers!

Both of my sons were large at birth, and as a result, very few of their newborn outfits that I received at my shower or purchased myself fit! They didn’t even wear newborn diapers…we started out in size 1.
What you need to remember is that babies grow incredibly fast during their first year. My boys (and everyone I know who has kids) always wore a size larger than their age. For example, if the boy is 3 months old, he won’t be wearing the 0 - 3 months size, he’ll probably be in the 3 - 6 months size. At one year old, he’ll be wearing 18 months, etc. It also has to do with the manufacturer of the clothes. I’ve noticed out of all the clothes we have now (or had for them as infants) Target’s house brand (Circo) fit the best. When they were 9 months old, for example, they actually wore size 9 months in Circo clothing.
I’d definitely skip buying newborn stuff. Everyone gets a TON of it, and I really don’t know who dresses their newborn up on a daily basis in cute little outfits. Most women realize that comfort and ease of changing is far more important than having something cutesy.
I’m guessing your friend will get a ton of t-shirts and onesies too. Pretty pointless since the baby will be born in December.
Unless she dresses her baby in layers (which most pediatricians don’t recommend) she’ll have no use for them.
If *I* were in your shoes, I’d get a really cute summer outfit for the boy in a size 6 - 9 months.
