Baby Food Organic vs Locally grown?

baby food

midnightrose asked:

My son is currently on all organic baby food. Unfortunately there is not a very large selection of organic baby food. I know there are several online stores I can order from (if I made six-figures =)) but I was actually thinking about making my own baby food at home. I was wondering from a health standpoint whether it would be better to feed him locally grown produce that has been SUPER carefully washed or if it would be better to purchase organic food from our local grocery store. What are your thoughts??

I think you support your local farmers and buy locally. Wash it, cook it or just serve it.

Well, the best way to do it is to buy local/organic foods. But, that is always not possible. I have been able to shop once a week at farmers markets that grow organic.

Some foods are OK if you don’t get organic, some are better if you do organic. I will look it up now, and edit my post.

    OK, I found the info.

This is a list of what foods are safe to eat non-organic. You can get those foods local, and get the others organic.

It’s best to buy organic whenever you can, but even if you buy from a local farmer, you still need to do the same amount of scrubbing as you would from regular stores. Local farmers use pesticides and herbicides too.
