Fatty Acids Vital to the Brain

Here is important news for pregnant women. Essential fatty acids help the brain to perform well by better brain function, motor do-ordination, visual performance, and immunity. They build the brain during fetal life.

Since they aren’t synthesized by human, they need to be consumed in the diet. So, if you know someone in the family who is pregnant, tell her to consume food high in fatty acids.

Eating 500g of fish a day is required to get the adequate amount of fatty acids needed by the body. Salmon, sardines, mackerel, and tuna are great sources of fatty acids.

Exercise with Your Baby!
by Adwina Jackson

We probably never recognize that our baby or child has started exercising since she was born. When she cries and kicks her legs, lifts up her head when lying down on her stomach, or when she tries to roll over, she is actually exercising.

However, those moves are not directed. If you want your baby to have ones, here are some exercises you can do with her. It’s fun and exciting for both of you!

First, lie down on your back on the bed or a mattress. Bend your knees and pull up the thighs. Hold your baby under her armpit and let her chest and stomach lay on your legs. Lift her up and down. She’ll enjoy it and your arms and her muscles get stronger.

Next, you lie down sideways and put your baby’s toys ahead of your tummy. Persuade her to grab the toys so that she’ll pass you through your body.

Third, take your baby to crawl up and down on a sliding board. It will toughen her arm and leg muscles. She also learns to feel the gravity.

When your child moves, it involves muscles, which means enhances the growth of body cells. Thus, the body will develop optimally and she becomes healthy, strong, and cheerful. The more she moves, the more development she gets.

It’s your job to stimulate your child’s development. She’ll gain both physical and mental benefit. Self-confidence is one among these benefits.

However, before you take your child exercising, you should recognize the ideal developmental stages that go with her age. The exercises should harmonize with the stages.

Good luck and enjoy the precious moments with your loved one!

Things to Do Today

Every baby is unique. Your baby may have different development from others. She can lift up her head when she was 4 months old, while others may reach this stage at 3 months old.

There’s a milestone of baby’s growth. You shouldn’t be worried if your baby can’t do certain things while other babies already can.

However, you should be aware if your baby has a developmental delay. Consult it with your pediatrician about the signs. Browsing this issue on the Internet for your additional knowledge is surely a good effort.

Kisses and hugs for your baby!

4 Tips to Do When Your Child Has a Fever
by Adwina Jackson

You’ll probably be worried when your child has a fever. Here are four tips you can do when the fever comes.

1. Take your child’s temperature
Don’t rely on your hand to do it. Use a thermometer! A digital thermometer is the best. Use it orally or rectally. If the temperature reaches 99.4°F (if taken orally), your child really has a fever.

2. Give your child plenty of drink
This will prevent him from dehydration as well as help the body to cool itself. Don’t forget to dress him in light cotton shirt to make the heat escape.

3. Don’t worry too much and make your child feel better
Fever is the sign that your child’s body is fighting against infection. Of course it will make him uneasy. It’s good for you to put him to bed. If he feels bored, it’s OK to take him to entertaining games which won’t need much energy.

4. Give your child extra attention
When your child is sick, give him extra care so that he knows that you love him. It surely will make him feel safe and comfortable. The recovery process will come early then.

Child Care

Say goodbye to diapers? Of course it’s possible. Indeed, there must be a time when your child should leave the diapers and learn to go to the bathroom by themselves.

An article below will help you potty training your child. Some interesting facts about your child’s readiness for potty training are revealed here. Enjoy the reading!

Potty Training Facts
By David Chandler

Potty training, toilet training, toilet teaching or toilet learning are names frequently used to describe how kids learn to use the bathroom independently.

Children who are potty training or ready to potty train will:
• Walk to the potty and undress
• Consistently keep underwear clean and dry during the day and/or night
• Recognise the need to go to the potty and let you know or goes by self
• Use the potty-chair or toilet by himself or herself.

Children will potty train at different rates and stages:
• Detours in potty training come with the territory and should not be taken as a sign of failure.
• Physical and mental developments play a large role in potty training success.
• By using training pants in your training approach will help to make it a positive and rewarding experience.

Facts to keep in mind:
Girls usually complete training at a younger age than boys and generally start earlier than boys. The time-spent training does not change in most cases. 80 percent of boys and girls are completely trained by age 3-1/2. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

Potty training takes an average of eight months but will vary from child to child. One child can take one month; another might take up to a year or more. There are kid trackers online that you can use to determine if you child is where they should be in their progress.

Potty chairs are best for most kids, but a potty seat for the big toilet can work with a little assistance and a step stool.

Before your child has started potty training, start thinking about a reward system that will work for both you and your child. Keep it simple and easy to stick with such as a sticker on the chart for sitting on the potty!
