2006 Parenting Resolution

What does 2005 mean to you? Surely, it must have been a very great year to some of you. For everyone who didn’t enjoy last year, don’t be sad and disappointed. You still have time to make everything better in 2006.

What’s your 2006 resolution then? There are lots of things you can make as your new year’s resolutions. If you haven’t thought about it, please let me help you by giving you a few things you might choose to do this year.

1. For moms, keep on breastfeeding for as long as you and the baby wish. The nutrition contained in breast milk cannot be substituted by any other food.

2. If you have been very busy at work, spend at least one day of the week with your family to have a quality time together. Cooking, going to the beach, watching theaters, and gardening can be wonderful choices.

3. Prevent your children from eating unhealthy food to avoid obesity.

4. Always eat healthy foods to keep your body healthy. It’s one of the essential things to make your parenting role successful.

To me, 2005 has been a very nice year. I’ve always enjoyed the moments I have with my little boy. He’s so cute and smiles a lot. There’s always something new about him everyday.

I may not be smarter than you, but it has been an incredible thing to me to share what I know about raising kids to you, {!Name}and everyone here. And I’m willing to spread as much information as you need in the coming years. Please don’t hesitate to let me know anything you believe important for all of us. Thank you in advance.

Let our children live healthy and happy!

5 Best Tips for Successful Breastfeeding

By Adwina Jackson

Giving the best nutrition for your baby is always what you’ve dreamed of. Breast milk has no substitution. It has all nutrients your baby needs, especially the colostrums (the first milk produced in the early days of breastfeeding).

Colostrums contain antibodies to keep your baby healthy. Breastfeeding your baby gives a lot of benefits, not only to your baby but also to you.

Among many, here are two main breastfeeding benefits:

- Due to the antibodies contained in breast milk, nursing your baby prevents her from many illnesses including diabetes, allergies, viruses, ear infections, and many more.

- To moms, breastfeeding reduces the rate of breast cancer and ovarian cancer.

So, if you decide to breastfeed your baby, you’ve made a great decision. Congratulations!

Breastfeeding, indeed, can be very easy or even difficult for first-time moms. Some may begin it easily with no major problems as soon as the baby comes.

On the other hand, there are moms who need extra patience to start the breastfeeding process. For example, they may have flat nipples or the milk isn’t coming out yet.

For flat nipples problem, well, baby doesn’t breastfeed through nipples actually, but through areola (the dark brown part of your breast). However, it’s a good idea if you treat the inverted nipples during pregnancy. Some women may find it helpful.

Now check out this one. For successful breastfeeding, take these best tips:

1. Early latch on

Baby’s natural suckling instinct is in the first 30 minutes of her life. It’s best to breastfeed her at this time. Though you may not produce milk yet, early latching on will make your baby gets smarter in the next breastfeeding time.

2. Eat a healthy diet

Breastfeeding moms need nutritional foods. Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables (beside carbohydrates and other nutrients of course). Drink at least a glass of water before and after breastfeeding your baby. These will increase your milk supply.

3. Breastfeed frequently

The more you breastfeed, the more milk you’ll produce. Feed your baby at least every 2-3 hours to avoid breast engorgement.

4. Right positioning

Make sure that your baby latches on and positioned correctly on the breast, in which the lips should be on the areola, right behind the nipples. Next, let your baby’s shoulder, head, and hips in an alignment. Her body should be turned toward you.

5. Beware of plugged ducts

If you find plugged breast ducts and or infection, contact a lactation specialist to get a proper treatment.

Another great benefit from breastfeeding is you don’t need to spend money to buy formula. Just save the money for your baby’s education, which of course will get higher and higher.

Enjoy the wonderful moment!

Things To Do Today

Avoid stress. That’s one of the most important things moms should do while breastfeeding. Stress won’t make the breast milk flowing smoothly. When this happens, your baby will get inadequate amount of milk.

Practical Tips

What if You Fail on Your Diet

By Riana Lance

If you are one among many other people who can’t lose your weight, you are not alone. Some failed people said that losing weight is not as easy as gaining weight. Well, they probably just pessimistic.

There are ways to make your weight loss program succeeded. In fact, weight loss can be fairly easy in the healthy individual. All you need to do is taking a few diet modifications and changing your lifestyle

There are things you may do to reach your weight loss target:

- Don’t think that eating give you pleasure. Knowing eating can bring you pleasure, you must start to deal with it. Don’t stick with eating; try to substitute with other activities. For example, walking out with friends or decorating house etc.

- Keep track of your progress. Write down a day’s complete eating and any physical activity you’ve done. Write down also about your feeling when you ruined your diet or you reach your accomplishments during the day.

- Try to be relaxed. The more you get relax, the more inside mind influence your way of diet and will become a habit in your everyday life. Also, that can change your life-style.

- Try affirmative technique. You keep saying to yourself that you can be like a slim person, that you can eat less, that you can do exercise etc. You will go to reach that level if you keep those in mind all the time. Confirm yourself that you can do it.

- Start to treat your body carefully. Spend at least 30 minutes everyday to take care of your body by doing something personal alone. For example, doing yoga, listen to music while soaking in the bath tub etc.

- Motivation. You knows that changing lifestyle takes motivation. Feeling better is the biggest reward of all, but sometimes you might need a little something extra to motivate you. Pamper yourself with good things, such as watching movie without buying pop corn or coke, or get yourself new clothes since you have lost some weigh.

So, it’s not that difficult, isn’t it? Changing lifestyle is better than just weeping your body condition. Keep on trying!

Things To Do Today

Take vitamin D wisely:

- Better to consume vitamin D foods, such as fortified milk, eggs and oily fish such as cod liver oil.

- Stay underneath sunshine about 10 to 15 minutes three times a week. This is the best way to get the daily requirement of vitamin D.

Abortion Impact: Long-Term Stress?

What’s the difference between women who had miscarriages and those who
had abortions?

“The women who had miscarriages were often psychologically traumatized
for several months,” said researcher Anne Nordal Broen, MD as reported by
WebMD.

They may have nightmares and flashbacks. But, most of these mental
responses were over within six months.

How to Establish Work Life
Balance

by Adwina Jackson

How do they do it? You know the parents that work full time and manage to
raise smart, healthy and happy children? They have a secret. That secret is
maintaining a good work life balance.

Have you ever heard the expression “all work and no play makes a boring
day?” Well the same goes for all play and no work.

Do too much of anything and you are bound to go stir crazy at some point
or get cabin fever.

The good news for parents everywhere is that you can have the best of
both worlds.

You can work hard and still find time to enjoy your family and your life.
You simply need to create balance.

In fact the most successful business people are also parents. They are
individuals who have discovered the secrets of balancing work and home life.

So how do you do it? You simply need to adopt a few essential strategies.

Work life balance is as simple as being able to balance the demands of
work with your personal life. You can be successful and happy doing both.

Establish a Flexible Schedule – The more rigid you are the less likely
you will be to develop a work life balance that is actually successful. You
have to understand that there will be times when work requires more
attention and other times when your personal life requires more attention.
It’s easy enough to balance the two when you allow a little flexibility in
your schedule. Always leave room for the unexpected, that way you are never
taken by surprise.

Balance Your Workload –You’ll need to make sure that you take on enough
work to keep you busy, but not so much work that you can’t create balance in
your life. Take on additional tasks at work only when you feel up to it, and
you know your family won’t be impacted by you coming home late a couple of
nights in a given week. Likewise don’t overbook yourself with birthday
parties and anniversary parties, unless however you can balance your
personal obligations with your work ones successfully.

Prioritize Your Activities – There are going to be times when you can’t
get everything done. Don’t panic! As long as you have prioritized your
activities you’ll ensure that you take care of the most important ones
first, and you can always catch up on less important activities later.

Delegate – Any seriously successful work-life balancer knows that you
simply can’t succeed unless you know how to delegate. Know who you can turn
to in a time of need and who has a skill set that is compatible with your
needs, so that when the occasion arises you can dish out some of the items
on your plate to others. Delegation isn’t simply for official ‘work’ tasks.
You can also delegate personal tasks including the laundry and other chores.

Work life balance is easily created when you schedule enough time for
your personal interests and work tasks. You can do this by organizing your
schedule and taking great care not to overburden your plate at any given
time.

Also remember that to achieve a successful work life balance you must put
your personal life at or near the top of your priority list. If work is your
only priority, you won’t succeed at both.

Finding meaningful and challenging work is an important aspect of any
work life balance. As much as we love our children it is important to feel
we are successful and contributing to society.

The good news is you don’t have to give up one or the other.

You can manage to work and still raise your family, and accomplish both
successfully!

Things To Do Today

Let your child explore his world anywhere! Don’t worry about the spots
that might stain his body and clothes. It’s indeed a part of his learning
process. His exploration will improve imagination as well as creativity,
social and physical skills.

- Creativity brings adaptability.

- Social skill brings success and mind health.

- Well-developed physical skill results in a healthy body.

All of them will finally turn an active child into a lively, successful
healthy adult.

Top Ten Activities for
Toddlers

by Adwina Jackson

Children learn everything about the world through exploration and play.

Playtime is also a great time for you to bond with your children in a
special and unique way. Almost any activity can be considered an opportunity
to help your toddler learn and grow.

Even the most mundane tasks, something like vacuuming, can be an exciting
and educational activity that your little one will enjoy and learn from. The
key is encouraging your toddler to explore the world around them.

Children afford us the opportunity to see the world through fresh eyes.
Even something as common as the wind can be exciting and stimulating for a
toddler.

If you are not sure what you should be doing to entertain your toddler,
you might be surprised at the list of things that actually are the most
entertaining for children of all ages!

Stimulating your child’s senses is important, so it is critical that you
expose them to as wide a range of activities as possible throughout the day,
week, month and year.

The more different the activities you engage in, the more opportunities
your children will have to learn about the world they live in.

Here are the top ten activities you can engage in with your toddler to
help them learn about their world and develop each of their senses:

1. Blow Bubbles together and
chase them.

2. Play peek-a-boo.

3. Make up a song and sing it
together.

4. Visit the bookstores, pick out
a new book and sit down and read it while still there.

5. Go for a walk and explore all
the different plants and trees you pass by.

6. Create an obstacle course out
of furniture.

7. Go on a scavenger hunt
together.

8. Have your toddler put on a
puppet show.

9. Turn on some music and dance
together.

10. Bake cookies together.

Honestly, this list is just a small sampling of the hundreds of things
you can do with your toddler to keep them active, to help them develop, and
to encourage bonding.

Just about anything and everything you do during the day is a possible
activity for your toddler.

You might even consider having your toddler help you fold the laundry.
The best way to encourage your toddler to learn while engaging in play is to
make every activity fun, new and exciting in some way.

Another great way toddlers learn is through interaction. If you haven’t
got the time, dedicate at least one day per week to group activities.

Take your toddler to the park and allow them to explore the world with
other children, so they can learn through other’s eyes as much as through
their own.

Remember when it comes to children. The world is their playground. You
simply need to guide them through it!

Things
To Do Today

There are actually simple, daily activities you can take your children to
play with. No need to buy expensive toys. Keep them active, help them
develop, and enjoy your beautiful bonding!
