Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday!

Ooo… did I say it twice? Yes, I did. ‘Cause there were two birthdays that I’m happy with. Two birthdays which were only three days apart. Birthdays of One Tall Momma’s beautiful daughters!

Thus, the Blog of the Week award goes to her. Congratulations!

She’s a divorced mother of 4 wonderful children. Again, the two birthdays were her daughters. Her first and her second. It must have been an amazing week for all of them!

What makes it special is that the first daughter, the blue-eyed, Samantha, as her mother wrote, is the first born daughter of a first born daughter of a first born daughter of an only child, a daughter. She’s special!

Moreover, Samantha was born after her momma had to go through an infertility treatment.

Then, two years after, the green-eyed girl, Eleanor, was born. What makes her special is actually about her momma’s feeling. By the time Eleanor came into the world, her momma was ready to welcome a new baby, but she was not sure of her heart. She asked herself … Did I have room in my heart to love another the way I loved my first?

Well, I think there are other moms out there who had the same feeling with their second child. Would they love the second child as much as they love the first?

Then, finally, her mother did find a room for her. And it grew, as the baby did.

Oh… beautiful!

Your girls are truly the gifts and blessings, mama!

Happy birthday to Samantha and Eleanor…

The Blog of the Week award goes to a stay-at-home mom with three beautiful sons, Adventures In Babywearing :). Congratulations, Stephanie!

You are probably wondering about the reasons why I pick this blog. Well, there are particularly three extraordinary things that I love about this blog this week.

The very first thing is this week is so special for Stephanie and her loving husband, Jeff. Last Monday, October 9, 2006, was their 7th Wedding Anniversary.

She also said that they got married exactly on the 1 year anniversary of their first date. Wow! That’s so sweet!

Then, the next reason is, their third son, Grayson, just turned ONE year old, only two days prior to the wedding anniversary. Yes, October 7 was his birthday. I’m sure Noah and Carter love their baby brother so much.

And, as Stephanie wrote, that the day she gave birth to Grayson was the beginning of their adventures in babywearing. The amazing week posts would not be complete without the great list of fabulous facts about babywearing.

You probably have no idea how much baby slings give benefits to both the baby and mama. Thanks to Stephanie who has shared the list to us. And, that’s actually the third reason for me to pick the blog as the Blog of the Week.

Congratulations, Stephanie!

Happy Anniversary to you and Jeff…
and Happy Belated Birthday to your lovely son, Gray.

Then… most of all, may your family live happily ever after :).

Today, I would like to dedicate this Blog of the Week award to Darsie Ferrari Wells. She was born on September 19, 2004.

The reason for this honor is because I’ve been so happy about her amazing development despite the fact that she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. To me, and of course for her loving parents, it’s absolutely a miracle!

It’s wonderful to see her grow. Her Mommy, Shannon, said in the blog that her little angel reached the biggest development when she was able to CRAWL.

Then, miraculously, this October (3 months after the previous progress), she made an incredible leap. She is WALKING!

It must have been a big surprise for the whole family, since Darsie just turned two last month. It’s indeed a big present for them.

Last but not least, I hope you grow healthier and smarter, Darsie. Thanks to your Mommy and Daddy for sharing your story with us. Happy belated birthday, Little Girl!

PS.
Please check out the previous Blog of the Week about Evan who has a complex heart defect.

Also, here are some points about cerebral palsy that I took from United Cerebral Palsy:

Last night, I had spent more than an hour reading this blog about the Adventures of An Awesome (Sometimes) Mother.

After I finished, umm… no, actually while I was reading, I already decided that I chose the blog as the Blog of the Week.

Evan, 2,5 years old, Awesome’s Mom eldest son, has just had another heart surgery. You can see the photos from the hospital stay here.

You don’t know anything about Evan?

He was born with a complex heart defect. He has endured multiple surgeries, has survived a stroke, has a pacemaker and is dealing with eating issues.

I was and still shaking reading this blog. I couldn’t help myself to shed these tears, especially when I looked at Evan’s photos. And I could not imagine if I have to experience something like this family has.

But Evan and his caring parents can go through all these.

Evan is a lovely tough boy. He is an awesome little fighter.

This Blog of the Week award is an honor and support for him. And his mommy and daddy. And his little brother Harry.

I hope everything will be fine with the little man. My heart and prayers go to your family, Awesome Mom.

“I never saw a vagina do THAT before!”

Hmm… Who do you think will utter such an expression? A new daddy?

Are you sure? Well, you can find it out after you read this all.

This post is actually written as an appreciation and enjoyment to Janie Lee’s birth. Yeah, the sweet little package arrived yesterday, September 21, 2006!

The baby weighs in at 8 pounds, 6 ounces, 19 inches! Congratulations to her mom Katie!

Months ago, Katie told Jay that she was carrying a baby. This was shocking as Katie is single. Then she said the father is not “into that” right now, which means the father position is empty. And that Katie already chose Jay to replace the position of the baby’s daddy.

“It was more pink and less bloody than I’d thought. And then, there was hair. Lots and lots of hair. I could have sworn she was giving birth to Ernie. But then the hair suddenly had a face; the most angelic face I’ve ever seen and I was hypnotized by it. It was all pinched and smeared, but it was beautiful…and big.”

That’s what Jay wrote in the blog. The amazing birth story of a baby who came out from her best friend’s vagina…

And because of all the stories, the incredible post is chosen as the Blog of the Week! Congratulations, Jay!

I’m so happy for you, Katie, and Janie Lee. Oh, and your hubby Jason, too!

Hope everything turns out well with the new mommy and baby. Oh, and the ‘daddy’ of course! :)

PS:
Blog of the Week is our weekly award post as an appreciation to mommy or daddy bloggers (well, anybody will do) who share their valuable stories. Blog of the Week

Friday, September 15th, 2006

I have spent some time visiting a number of blogs that tell stories about women who cannot have children, women who are trying to have ones, and those who decide to adopt.

Then I arrived here, at Karen’s blog.

Karen (The Naked Ovary) and her husband Random are now in the last group. They decided to adopt a very cute little girl from China whom they call Maya Papaya.

It is great to see that the new mama can get along with her beautiful baby very soon, right at the first time they met.

This week must be a wonderful week for them. Last Tuesday was The Adoption Day. Congratulations to you, Karen and Random…

That’s why this Blog of the Week award goes to the three of you and your entire family… I hope this brings more happiness to your new family.

You’re right, dear… Maya Papaya is the most gorgeous baby in the entire world.

“My dad sent this email to a friend of his who has adopted two kids from Guatemala and who now lives in Hong Kong:

We haven’t even met our little Granddaughter, but we have her pictures plastered all over the wall. The other night I mentioned to E., how I already felt a very strong connection to Maya, she looked at me and said that she had the same feeling. We both agreed, that we were now entering a new phase of our lives and that someone, far away, would now be a very important part of our future. “

As you wrote in this post that Random’s eyes got a weensy bit wet, I think you are going to make everyone here sheds happy tears. I hope you don’t mind with me putting here the above quote of your dad’s email.

Thank you so much for this beautiful post…
