When to Introduce Kids to Exercise?

Monday, April 24th, 2006

As early as possible!

I started it with Olivia when she was less than 1 year old–when she started to walk. She seemed enjoying it.

Most kids would enjoy it ’cause basically they like moving around. All you need to do are:

  • first show them how fun exercising is by adding some music and funny moves
  • ask them, “Wanna have fun with Mom and Dad?”
  • let them express their own ways of exercising
  • next lead them to better ways when they already find it fun
  • make it as your family fun habit
  • latter on, when they seem to understand your words more, also explain to them why people need to exercise

This way, you’ll have healthy happy kids!

Creative Ways to Spice up Your Marriage

Monday, April 24th, 2006

A recent research showed that fight between parents influenced the kids’ whole life.

Thus, parents should live in harmony, to avoid kids being stressed out or depressed, by spicing up the marriage. One of them is by surprises.

  • Write the 3 yet meaningful words, “I love you” in a hand made card, send it to your spouse by post, just like the old times
  • Send a groups of acapella singers (can be your friends) to sing your most memorable love song
  • Show up at your spouse’s office (if working, if not simply show up at your front door) and take him/her to a lunch picnic
  • Take your best picture (the most appealing) and hide it in your spouse’s wallet.

I bet, you’ll smile all day long after doing one of the above options…

American Idol…Do you watch?

Saturday, April 22nd, 2006

I never thought that Ace would go that soon. Well, I’m not his biggest fan, but he was ok.

As usual, American Idol always gives us surprises.

Actually what my hubby and I enjoy most is Simon’s truthful funny yet serious comments. It’s him that makes the show fun to watch.

Next week they’ll beworking with Andrea Bocelli. Wondering what they’ll come with that…

How My Kids Be Friends with Each Other

Friday, April 21st, 2006

Olivia (5) and Jerome (2) are getting along very well up until now.

Many friends of mine and my husband’s asked how that could happen.

Actually it’s so simple. When Olivia was 2, my husband and I decided to get her a sibling on her 3rd birthday. Since then, we told her almost everyday about her opportunity to get a friend, a little brother (Didn’t know why we said brother instead of sister, luckily we got a son, not a daughter, it might confuse Olivia).

So, she made friend with him even before he was conceived. I think that’s why now they get along very well with each other.

Memory Games with Your 3 Years Old

Thursday, April 20th, 2006

One of the most fun memory games is matching pictures. Use a number of cards with some similar pictures to play.

Shuffle the cards and put the cards into two or three colomns up side down.

Ask your kid to open two cards. If they match, your kid can take both cards.

Then ask them to open two more cards. If they don’t match, he has to close them back and give a chance to the other players–can be you and your spouse or his friends.

The winner is the one with most cards in hand.

Isn’t it easy and fun?

They Learned It in the Womb!

Wednesday, April 19th, 2006

Some researches show that the learning point can even be started while a baby is still spending days in the womb.

But how do we, parents, help them learn?

  • STORY TELLING. Buy some books and read them with different kinds of tone. Besides helping them get familiar with your voice, it also can trigger your baby to love books.
  • MUSIC. Your baby’s movements are livelier when music is played. And it can stimulate your baby’s brain.
  • BELLY TOUCHING. Touch or scrub your belly gently, the baby can feel it and will be more comfortable afterwards.

So, moms, in whichever months your pregnancy is, it’s never too late to do those three things above…

Nice try!
