A Triplets Mom’s Pregnancy Story

Wednesday, October 18th, 2006

It is always exciting to read about a pregnancy story, especially if it’s the one of a mom who has been trying to have babies for several years.

Today, I found out that Jen3@AmazingTriplets just shared her story while she was pregnant with her triplets. It’s amazing! It’s fun!

William, Elizabeth, and Carolyn were born two years ago. Their mommy conceived on the third round of IVF + ICSI, which was about 8 years of planning.

I bet it’s very interesting to get to know about their story.

Thanks so much for sharing, mama.

Oooh.. and Happy Birthday to your little angels :) .

The Love of a Mom

Tuesday, October 17th, 2006

How is the relationship between you and your mother going? I know there are difficult times between the two of you. It’s not unavoidable. I know you love your mom very much. She even loves you more.

The love of a mom is never-ending. Her love shines forever. From time to time. For you. For your children.

As a daughter, it’s really amazing to have a beautiful relationship with your mother. Melany (Supermom) thanks her mom in beautiful words she shares over her blog.

And this one is beautiful:

“I hope that one day I will have the honour to have such a vital part in my grandchildren’s lives – that I will be able to – that I’ll have the love and patients that my mom has for my kids.”

Thank you so much for sharing your feeling, Melany.

What about you, mamas? Wanna share yours? :)

Babies and toddlers can get choked easily. When this happens, parents usually get panic.

What can you do to avoid your little ones from choking?

1. Use age-appropriate tools for eating and drinking.

2. Try not to talk or laugh with your babies/toddlers while giving them something to eat or drink.

3. Never ever give drink to your children if they don’t sit upright.

4. Manage the volume of liquids or food into their mouth as appropriate with their swelling ability.

5. Avoid giving foods that can be hazards to your children. Some of them are peanut butter, raisins, nuts, hard candies, and popcorn.

Being pregnant should be one of the happiest times of your life with all the expectations and dreams for the future. However, there are a number of some symptoms of pregnancy that can make this time quite uncomfortable. Here are a few of the more common:

Morning sickness affects up to 70% of pregnant women. This includes nausea, and sometimes vomiting, especially in the morning (hence its name). You might go off certain foods because the smell makes you feel queasy. The exact cause of morning sickness is unknown, but it is thought to be hormonal in nature. Blog of the Week

Friday, October 13th, 2006

The Blog of the Week award goes to a stay-at-home mom with three beautiful sons, Adventures In Babywearing :) . Congratulations, Stephanie!

You are probably wondering about the reasons why I pick this blog. Well, there are particularly three extraordinary things that I love about this blog this week.

The very first thing is this week is so special for Stephanie and her loving husband, Jeff. Last Monday, October 9, 2006, was their 7th Wedding Anniversary.

She also said that they got married exactly on the 1 year anniversary of their first date. Wow! That’s so sweet!

Then, the next reason is, their third son, Grayson, just turned ONE year old, only two days prior to the wedding anniversary. Yes, October 7 was his birthday. I’m sure Noah and Carter love their baby brother so much.

And, as Stephanie wrote, that the day she gave birth to Grayson was the beginning of their adventures in babywearing. The amazing week posts would not be complete without the great list of fabulous facts about babywearing.

You probably have no idea how much baby slings give benefits to both the baby and mama. Thanks to Stephanie who has shared the list to us. And, that’s actually the third reason for me to pick the blog as the Blog of the Week.

Congratulations, Stephanie!

Happy Anniversary to you and Jeff…
and Happy Belated Birthday to your lovely son, Gray.

Then… most of all, may your family live happily ever after :) .

Introducing New Food to Your Baby or Toddler Successfully

Friday, October 13th, 2006

Children, especially babies and toddlers, may love the first or new food offered to them. Or, unfortunately, it’s the other way around – they may refuse it!

If this happens to your little ones, you need to be more patient. By recognizing some tricks below, you’ll find them enjoy their meals gradually.

Here are the tricks:

- Before offering the food to your kids, taste it first. By doing this you will know the reason why they would probably refuse the food later.

- Offer the food in a small portion. If they show a sign to like it, you can add the food to their plate.

- Eat together with them. It is best if you also eat the same food you offer to them.

- Don’t stick to the spoon! Let your children explore this eating experience with their hands if they wish.

- Introduce new foods at least within a 3-day interval. This will give your kids chance to get used to the previous food you had offered. Moreover, by taking time in giving new foods, you’ll know if your kids show an allergic reaction to certain food or not.

- If you see your kids hate the food, don’t push them to eat it. Take another time to introduce it to them.

Good luck!

Your Kids are Mocked by Their Friends?

Wednesday, October 11th, 2006

Everyone needs socialization, including your little ones. They make friends at school or somewhere else.

Good things happen when they take care of each other and enjoy the times they spend together.

However, there may be some bad occasions they probably have to go through. For example, they happen to see the reality that not everyone is a kind person. There are some bad ones, bad friends who mock at your children.

If this happens to your little ones, what should you do?

Here are three best things you can do for them:

  • Understand your children’s feeling

Listen to their whine so that you know exactly how they feel about that bad situation. You can tell them that next time they should make friends with those who have good attitudes and those who make them feel comfortable.

  • Tell your children to handle their emotion

When these bad friends of theirs keep mocking at your kids, tell them to handle their emotion. They can tell their teachers or other adults. Or, if they are doing something, try to focus on the activity. Tell your kids too that it’s best to avoid these badly behaved friends.

  • Don’t get yourself involved

Sometimes parents feel they know what’s best for their children. However, try not to argue with or even assault those who have mocked your kids. That would not be a wise decision. Just provide supports for your kids that they have a lot of other kids to make friends with.

By doing these, you are training your kids to handle their emotions and to learn on becoming a wise person.

What Do You Say If Your Child Does Not Resemble You?

Tuesday, October 10th, 2006

It’s just one example of situation. You and your partner have dark hair while your child is blonde. Confused? Of course you are.

Here is the reason why I put that question.

The above question is actually a question by Jennefer. She asks a burning question over at her blog. Actually, it is a special question, since she is in the process of adopting a little girl from Russia :) .

Here’s what she wrote:

What should I say when people say to me (in front of Pineapple Princess), “Where did your daughter get that beautiful dark hair?”

Does anyone have any suggestions? Or, do you have the same experience like this?

Jennefer also poses another question at the end of her post. She does not want to make the little girl feel different with the other kids she already has.

What do you think? Come and visit her blog to help her.
