A Letter to Mommy off the Record

Tuesday, November 14th, 2006

Dear MotR,

You are truly one of my favorite bloggers.
You are a very funny person.
Uh, wait, not just you, but your hubby too :).
You both crack me up so often .

And now I’d like to pronounce that I really really love this post of yours:
Wherein Karma Bitch Slaps Me with Her Rubber Glove

It’s absolutely hilarious that I couldn’t help myself from ROFL. LOL. So, then, Cristina, I nominate you for the October ROFL Awards.
I guess you must make an exception and allow yourself to be awarded :).
Oh, yes, you did :).

*Though ROFL Awards is co-organized by Mommy off the Record herself and IzzyMom, that does not mean she can’t win the award, right? :).

A Vaginal Birth after C-Section?

Monday, November 13th, 2006

You had to go through a cesarean in your first labor. What do you plan for the next one? Another C-Section or a vaginal birth? If you plan to have the last one, this article provides the information. Enjoy the reading!

Preparing for a Vaginal Birth after Cesarean
By Julie Johnson

WHY LACK OF SUPPORT?

Several years ago, ACOG, American College of Obstetrician and Gynecology stated, that the risk of vaginal birth after cesarean poses a threat of uterine rupture and isn’t worth the risk to the fetus or the mother. Since then our hospitals and physicians have changed their views and policies. (more…)

Blog of the Week

Friday, November 10th, 2006

So Close is absolutely perfect for the Blog of the Week award.

Tertia in South Africa touches my heart so deeply today. And I’m sure that most of you will get the same feeling when you read what you’ll read.

She shared her heart about the loss of her first child, Ben, and how she has coped with the grief. I shed my tears while reading about Baby Ben. Every beautiful word Tertia wrote is a word of encouragement and love… So deep and graceful…

Another beautiful and precious thought in her post was about the nurse who had been with her through the difficult times when Ben was born. Here is what I took from her blog (I hope you don’t mind with this, Tertia) … :

I got an email in my inbox today from the nurse who took care of Ben while he was still alive, who prayed over him while he lay there fighting for his life, and who prepared him so gracefully for his death. She is the nurse who gently removed all the IV lines, the ventilator tube; who carefully wiped away the bits of stickiness left over from the Band-Aids and sticky tape, and who dressed him for the first and last time in a little yellow baby sleeper. She placed him in my arms so that I could hold him for the first, and last time. And once he had died, she took him from me again and prepared him to be taken away.

After Ben had died, she was so gentle and kind and helpful. She helped me with the terrible details of where his little body should go, which funeral home would collect him etc – the horrendous admin of death. She honestly helped me so much. She gave my son and I dignity in his death. I will forever be grateful to her for that. I thought of her often in the year after his death.

Please come over to her blog and read all about it.

Tertia, I don’t know what you’ll think about this. I mean, I have no intention to put this into depreciation. Neither do I have a crown nor a trophy, but I have this Blog of the Week Award. I thought maybe you can tell the nurse that this Blog of the Week Award is not only a tribute to you and Baby Ben, but also to her. This is her award too…

There are not many like her. She’s special.

So was your baby prince, Ben. He is still.

May he rest in peace in Heaven …

Thank you so much for this beautiful post, Tertia…

November is Prematurity Awareness Month

Thursday, November 9th, 2006

Here’s what I read in The American Academy of Pediatrics.

Chicago - Citing premature birth as the number one killer of American newborns, the March of Dimes has named November as Prematurity Awareness Month to draw attention to this increasingly common, costly and serious public health problem.

Between 1981 and 2003, the rate of premature births rose from 9.4 percent to 12.3, an increase of almost 31 percent. Every year nearly 500,000 infants are born prematurely. That’s roughly comparable to the population of Cleveland.

The American Academy of Pediatrics is a partner in the March of Dimes Prematurity Campaign to fund research and education aimed at reducing prematurity by 15 percent.

The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. We carry out this mission through research, community services, education and advocacy to save babies’ lives. March of Dimes researchers, volunteers, educators, outreach workers and advocates work together to give all babies a fighting chance against the threats to their health: prematurity, birth defects, low birthweight.

To learn more, visit March of Dimes Web site.

To read the stories of mothers (families) with premature babies, please have a look at here ….

- Jen3@AmazingTriplets, mom to three beautiful babies: William, Elizabeth & Carolyn
- Jill, whose youngest daughter was born 7 1/2 weeks early due to placental abruption

My pray is always with all of you, mamas ….

She Finally Did That !!!

Oh, yeah, Britney finally filed for divorce!

I’m not really surprised by this. I knew it’s just about time that she’s going to leave K-Fed. I don’t know why, but I’ve had this feeling that K-Fed is not a good guy. Not a good hubby. Not a good dad.

Even though I’m not Britney’s fan, but as a woman, I feel sorry for her marriage life.

Now that she decided to leave him, I hope that this is going to be a better move for her and her two babies, Sean Preston and the 2-month-old Jayden James.

By the way, I guess it’s interesting to read about what other bloggers’ think about Britney’s marriage.

Cheese Fried Rice for Your Toddler

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

Are you thinking about a slightly different kind of food for your toddler?

And you’re feeling bored with the usual ingredients? Why not try rice? It’s a good source of carbohydrates. Having rice as breakfast is a healthy way to start your child’s day in a more vigorous spirit.

Here’s the recipe. Cook in minutes and it’s ready to serve. You can also have this recipe for a family picnic.

It’s Cheese Fried Rice.

Enjoy the cooking!

Prepare a frying pan and a wok.

Ingredients:
250 g cooked rice
1 egg, mixed
2 onions, peeled and chopped
1/2 tablespoon of butter
1 sliced cheese, cut in small parts
100 g smoked beef, cut in small parts
1/4 teaspoon of pepper
salt
parsley, chopped

How to Cook:

- Warm the frying pan in medium heat. Put butter and onions and let them cook in a couple of minutes until it smells good. Then add the smoked beef, salt, and pepper.

- Put the mixed egg and stir into little shreds.

- Add the rice into the pan, then mix it so that it mingles with the other ingredients.

- Add sliced cheese and stir. Put chopped parsley and lift up the pan.

- Ready to serve.
