Friday, February 23rd, 2007

Do you have something in your house that reminds you of the times of your life?

Maybe you don’t realize that you’ve already had the thing for so many years – times when you have been in the relationship with your partner, husband, wife… Times when you live the life with your family, your children…

Chris at Notes from the Trenches has a very beautiful memory to share. She brought many of her readers into tears, just like what she did to me. Come and see her blog. You’ll probably want to write the same thing as well :) .

Thanks so much for sharing this amazing story, Chris.

Strengthening the Mother-Infant Bond

Friday, February 16th, 2007

Do you ever realize it is important for you to maintain and strengthen a beautiful bond with your baby?

This emotional bond between you and your baby begins as your baby delivered. It even starts when you still carry her in the womb. You read to her, listen to music together, speak, and even sing to her.

This incredible connection will hopefully stay forever between the two of you. But then, how can you sustain this bond? Here are some great ways to accomplish:

1. Latch On Early
When there is no complication following the delivery, ask the doctor or nurse to latch the baby on you as soon as she is born. Put your baby on your chest and breastfeed her. Next, try to hold her more often.

2. Breastfeed Your Baby
Not only does breastfeeding enhance the intimacy with your baby but also it is the best nutrition for the first 6 months of her life.

3. Speak to Your Baby
Talk to your baby softly. This will make her feel safe and sound.

4. Caress Your Baby
Touching her while you hold her, feed her, or play with her is the perfect effort to maintain this bond. By this, both of you will get to know each other and feel that this is an extraordinary bond that make you both feel safe with..

Are You Pregnant and Getting Exhausted Easily?

Thursday, February 8th, 2007

Well, that’s what most pregnant women have to undergo during their pregnancy. You may say that fatigue is a daily menu for pregnant women, especially in the early weeks of pregnancy.

Factors affecting it are ranging from the changing of hormones to anemia.

There are ways to conquer the exhaustion:

- Have a lot of rest
Don’t lie to yourself – you know the signals when you’re feeling tired. When, oh, and even before these times come, just stop your activity and take a break. You can just listen to your music player and sing your favorite songs for your baby.

- Keep exercising
You need to have regular exercises to keep blood circulation and oxygen supply flow normally. Walking, swimming, and yoga are perfect exercises for pregnant women.

- Consume foods rich in iron and folic acid
It is to prevent your from anemia. Green vegetables, tofu, red meat, even raisins are good for you.

If all these are accomplished, yet you still feel so exhausted most of the days, you’d better consult it with your doctor.

Breastfeeding for the First Time

Tuesday, February 6th, 2007

I always love to write something about breastfeeding. For me, breastfeeding can really make me and my child stay very close to each other. Not only physically close but more and more than that. I’m sure many of you understand deeply how it feels when you breastfeed your baby.

When you hold your baby in your arms and he reaches out his hand, probably looks for your lips for him to touch, then both of you look at each other … eyes to eyes… heart to heart… What a beautiful moment!

I’m sure too that it is even more beautiful having that amazing moment when you have already waited for it for so long.

Some of you may have been waiting for it forever. I think Amy (Tales of the Lazy Ovaries) is one of them. Two or three years probably don’t seem too long. However, I’m pretty convinced that Amy doesn’t think so :) .

Go see her blog and read her story with her baby girl, Aislinn Madison, who was just born on January 29, 2007! Congratulations to both of you, Amy & Howie…

And, of course you should not forget to read the post about her breastfeeding experience. :)

1. It makes you healthier
2. It builds your muscles stronger because of the tender stretches you make during the exercise.
3. It keeps your body stay in shape
4. It keeps you to think positive throughout your pregnancy
5. Yoga makes you look and feel fresher because you will be less fatigue
6. Yoga breathing exercise and method help you ease the tense of labor

There are also other options of exercises during your pregnancy. You can go walking and swimming. However, you should keep in mind that you need to drink a lot of water before the exercises to avoid you from dehydration.

Hiring a yoga instructor will be a great help because you are experiencing a very beautiful period in your life and you, absolutely, want to do it safely and happily.

One last thing about your pregnancy is that you need to pray more than you ever do before. Pray to the Almighty that you and your baby will be healthy until and after the delivery day.
