Pregnancy with twins?

Monday, August 20th, 2007

No need to worry. Basically, it’s not too different with pregnancy with just one baby.

Yet, some mothers-to-be with twins experience a more severe morning sickness. However, there are some who don’t.

What you must pay attention to is the babies’ weight. The average twin weighs 5.5 pounds. On your last visits, make sure that your babies don’t weigh less than that.

Generally you need to multiply the protein that you consume because protein is the building block of every cell in your body and your babies’ bodies. It is a good component to help you build a good placenta.

There’s a higher chance of twins being born early, most are born only a little before their due date, at about 37 or 38 weeks.

Baby Acne

Friday, August 10th, 2007

Among newborns, baby acne is actually quite a common problem. However, it is not a serious issue.

It is caused by maternal hormones that cross the placenta during delivery and stimulate the baby’s sebaceous glands. These hormones irritate the baby’s oil glands and cause pimple-like bumps all over the baby’s skin.

Or it can also be caused by medications the baby may be on, or any medications a nursing mother may be taking. Generally, it occurs on the baby’s face, neck, chin and back. It looks more like a pimple, and is surrounded by reddish skin.

It is not too difficult to treat the acne Simply wash your baby’s face gently with a mild soap and water at least once a day. Don’t scrub your baby’s skin and always pat it dry instead of rubbing. Yet, don’t over-wash it for it may cause worse irritation.

Most important, don’t use adult medication on your baby’s acne.

Start and End with Your Family

Friday, August 3rd, 2007

When I was teenager, I couldn’t wait for my 18th birthday. Dad promised me to have my own place after the birthday.

And the day came. Mom was a bit reluctant. But Dad wanted me to be independent. Me, too.

The first day in this new place, I was jumping all around the place (it’s a small apartment belonged to Dad). The second day, I took the whole day to rest and relax. The third day, I was starving.

I was embarrassed to call Mom and ask her what she had for lunch. But…there was no other way. I had to do it anyway. I forgot to take some money from my personal bank account (Dad gave it to me as a birthday gift), therefore I couldn’t shop or buy food.

So, I called Mom. And guess what…she was crying hearing my voice and we ended up crying together. I realized that I missed her so much.

Yes, that sounds silly and I’m not supposed to tell about it here. But, I really want you and of course me to remember that no matter what, no matter where your children go, their heart is with you. Whatever I went through in my life, there is always family. I started with them and will end with them, too, I hope.
