The Land of the Rich and Famous

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

rancho santa fe.jpgLet’s imagine about “The Ranch”, the truly land of the rich and famous. You might want to take a peek of the area, or even planning to move to that land.

Rancho Santa Fe CA, or called “The Ranch,” is the highest income community in the United States. Celebrities and notables find privacy in luxurious Rancho Santa Fe homes set in the seclusion of rolling hills and canyons. Residents enjoy spectacular views overlooking thousands of eucalyptus trees. Some of the famous residents are Glenn Bell of Taco Bell, Tom DeLonge (guitarist and vocalist of the bands blink-182), Jewel (singer-songwriter), Joan Kroc (philanthropist and widow of McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc), and Bill Gates (American entrepreneur, software executive, philanthropist and chairman of Microsoft).

When you are visiting the Ranch, be sure to stop at “The Village,” located in the heart of Rancho Santa Fe. There you’ll find a distinctive array of specialty retail stores, award-winning gourmet restaurants and numerous real estate offices. Also, you’ll enjoy the venerable and historic Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, with its sprawling lawn and comfortable lounge. It’s a perfect get-away, very intimate, quiet and private. Several premier award-winning restaurants such as Mille Fleurs offer world-class dining.

The small, exclusive Rancho Santa Fe School District is one of the best in the state. It provides a world-class education for K-8 and is a big attraction for families with small children. Children are also served by the Solana Beach School District and the well-respected San Dieguito Union High School District. So, who wants to move here?

Your Personal Parenting Style

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

Good mothers and fathers come in many styles. Each one of us has different strengths, interests, and values that make us great parent. Don’t let yourself become discouraged or disappointed when others ‘give you advice’ that doesn’t seem to mesh with who you are. Maybe you’re not a roll around on the floor kind of parent with your child.  Maybe you’ve decided to hang back and let your little one explore. That’s great! As long as it works for you and your child, nobody should be able to convince you that your method is incorrect or wrong. Once you recognize and embrace your own personal parenting style, you can stop trying to live up to everyone else’s expectations and get on with the business of enjoying being a parent.

It’s important to keep in mind too, that these well-meaning advice givers don’t know your child as well as you.  They aren’t there with your child night and day, watching him grow, learn, explore, play, eat, and sleep.  Only you know what’s best for your child, and you know what works best in your household and for your lifestyle.  As with anything, figuring things out along the way will involve trial and error.

So when you receive yet another unsolicited piece of advice regarding your child’s napping or nighttime sleeping habits, keep both your and your child’s personal style in mind.  You’ve done the legwork, you’ve experimented, and you’ve learned together what works and what doesn’t work.  The cues should come from your instincts regarding your child and from your child directly.  There’s no such thing as a hard-and-fast rule for sleep habits among children other than it is needed! As your child grows, his cues may change, but as long as you stay in tune with him, his sleep habits shouldn’t have to suffer as a result. And neither should yours.

What Worry Women the Most?

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

You know what worry women the most? Aging. At the least, this aging means unshiny skin looks, wrinkles, dark shadows around the eyes, sagging facial skin, loose neck skin, and so on. We tend to spend so much money in order to gain or maintain youthful and healthy looks. We really don’t want to look old. Even if we don’t mind to be old, we don’t want our skin, especially facial skin, to look unshiny and dry and crisp, with loose neck skin. I am serious. I mean, I often meet women who are not so much older if not the same age as me and look like that. So what should we do to prevent, or even to fix, the problems? I’ll sum up for you what I got from browsing around in the internet.

First is what we take. Drink as much as water as possible. And eat as much veggies and fruits as possible, as they contain of antioxidants that may protect your cells, including your facial skin cells in this case, against the effects of free radicals. Second is exercise regularly, as healthy body will make healthy and fresh appearance. Then, do some treatment at home, like applying those lotions, day and night cream, anti-aging serum, after cleaning your face thoroughly everyday, regularly. You’ve got to be consistent; a few times of facial care will not change anything. The last but not least is facelift. Facelift is common today, not just for celebrities. These Boca facelifts can rejuvenate the face; that is the mid face, lower face, and the neck, by correcting sagging facial skin, jowls, and loose neck skin. The result is, of course, a natural and long-lasting more refreshed and youthful appearance. Good luck!

More on New Zealand Family Outing

NZ - Dunedin_pano_from_signal_hill.jpg

If you are already in New Zealand, you might as well explore more of the romantic country other than the major cities. The beauty and its natural phenomenon and attractions are endless here. We’ll see.

NZ - RotoruaGeiser.jpgRotorua is known as the thermal wonderland of New Zealand. Its hot springs and geysers have attracted tourists for over a hundred years. Along with the geothermal wonders, there are also the more usual water activities such as fishing and boating. Some attractions are Te Puia (home to the Whakarewarewa Valley of geothermal activity, including bubbling mud pools and geisers), land-sledding down Mt. Ngongotaha, and more. There are so many activities for your family, so stay at Rotorua hotels for at least a few days.

Dunedin is known as the Edinburgh of the South and is proud of its Scots heritage. It has as its heart a statue of the poet Robbie Burns, and many of its streets carry the same name as streets in Edinburgh. The kids will love Cadbury World, a guided tour of the Cadbury Chocolate Factory, and a walk on Baldwin Street, the steepest street in the world. You might want to stay at Dunedin hotels.

Hamilton is an inland city in the Waikato region of New Zealand’s North Island. The Waikato River, New Zealand’s longest river, flows through the middle of the city. You might want to see The Agricultural Fieldays at Mystery Creek. Hamilton Zoo is another attractive place to visit. Kids love it. So, spend some time and stay at Hamilton hotels.

NZ - LakeTaupo-RockCarvings.jpgLake Taupo lies in the centre of the North Island of New Zealand. Famed for its trout fishing and boating, the lake merely fills the caldera of one of the largest super-volcanoes in the world in a still active geological region. The view is quite breathtaking, so it will be worth your while to spend a few days at Taupo hotels.

Napier is a city in Hawkes Bay, on the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand. The city is famed for its Art Deco architecture. Visit the golden sanded southern Hawkes Bay beaches where you can go surfing, fishing, and long walks to check out the native habitat. Or go to Cape Kidnappers where you will find a colony of Ganets. For accommodation in the area, find some local Napier hotels.

Do you know that National Geographic website got the kids section. You might find it interesting for introducing the kids to some nature, animals, and stuff. It’s got cute pictures, videos, fun games and activities, and more. My kids love it. We even occasionally buy the mini magazine formats.
