Social Concerns of Homeschooling

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Social skill is an area of deep concern when it comes to homeschooling. Many critics point out that since man needs to hone his social skill, a homeschooling environment where social interaction is limited is detrimental to his growth and development. But studies have proved this wrong.

Children put into the fiercely competitive school environments lack the confidence to hold a conversation. Such children show little genuine interest in the topic of conversation and don’t know how to interact with people of various age groups, especially their elders.

Children who learn at home are more aware of the implications and the purpose of their learning. They will ask intelligent questions and make accurate observations. Children begin their life by imitating their parents. Homeschooled children therefore pick up the sterling qualities they see in their parents. On the other hand, they are protected from the detrimental influences of their peers.

These children are thus better equipped with the tools necessary to face the world. The positive reinforcement that takes place in the homeschooling environment as opposed to being abandoned, embarrassed or ignored in a normal school environment strengthens their self-esteem. Children turn out to be better balanced and well-rounded as they progress into adulthood.

Missing Children Doesn’t Always Happen to Someone Else

child missing.JPG

Missing children is parents’ worst nightmare. And yet we always say “It doesn’t happen in our neighborhood” or “It just happens to someone else.” Do we really know that one child is reported missing every 40 seconds, thus it is nearly 800,000 each year? Just reading this fact makes my heart stopped.

What do we need to prepare for child safety? There is a system that specializes in child alert. This is how they work.

First, the parent will have a secure storage of the child id which contains of the childs’ fingerprints, dental records, identifying marks and social security number. This information is stored in hard drive and water resistant USB keychain drive, and uploaded to the website. Second, just in case the child is late or missing, the child locator works, in which the parent can notify family, neighbors and friends (level 1), and 911 (level 2) by using this email and text blast system. The child’s data in the website can be open to public so that the authorities can know the details about the child.

Sounds depressing, right? But, it is true that we need to be prepared.

Home Based Business

credit card3.jpgToday, more and more people are setting up home based business, especially women. This is the best solution for people who are trying to have a balance between earning money and being close to the family and children. With this home based business, the working hour can flexible, and we can work as well as supervising the children growing.

Basically there are two ways of home based business; customers that come to our business place (such as shops, book stores, bed and breakfast), or we that come to the customers (such as catalog, mail orders, delivery services). And how about the payment? The less risky system for both the customers and the merchants is by Visa and Mastercard payment solutions.

If in our business it is the customers that come to our place of business, then it means that they are paying at our place. So, we need to setup credit card processing at our place by using point of sale card swipe systems. If we are running delivery services or mail orders where customers pay at their places, then the best way is by setting up the internet credit card processor with mail order telephone orders (or MOTO) where they accept credit card payments over the phone. Since this method is risky for both the customers and merchants, there are some precautions that need to be done.

However, it is important that you choose your method to make sure that it is the method that is most effective for you, your child and your family. Here are some great tips to making potty training your child much more fun and exciting:

1.      Blue & Yellow Make Green method: if you put a few drops of blue food coloring in the toilet water and show your child that the color will turn green when he or she pees in the potty. This method works on many children and can be used with others.

2.      Toilet Target Practice: with this method you get to buy or make toilet targets to teach your child to aim. Many parents use cheerios cereal.

3.      Musical Potty Chair: Musical potty chairs, such as the Tinkle Toonz, play a song tune when your child uses the potty which can be a blast.

4.      Potty Training Doll: these are anatomically correct drink & wet dolls, such as the Corolle or Aquini dolls, which can be used to help make toilet training fun and easy by demonstration. This method is recommended by Dr. Phil if this is of any interest to you.

5.      Potty Training Watch: you can easily make potty time reminders fun and exciting when you use the VibraLite toilet training watch. The VibraLite watch, which comes in two different colors, can be set to vibrate every 30 minutes as a very entertaining way to remind your child that it’s potty time!

7.      Charts & Stickers: this toilet training method with charts and stickers are great motivational tools that many children love. You can start this method by giving stickers for sitting on the potty and every other step he does correctly. After a while, give stickers only when your child uses the potty. Amazing Baby Gifts!

Monday, April 28th, 2008

diaper cake.jpgWhat do things do you usually give as baby gifts for your friends and family that just have new baby born? The most common baby gifts are something like baby photo album, blankets, baby clothing, baby books, baby diaper bags, meal sets, plush toys, and … cards. We need something special, so that our baby gifts will be memorized for a long time. And it will also make us happy if the receiving family is excited with our gifts.

Have you ever heard of such a thing of diaper cakes? It was just that when I tried to find some new things for baby shower gifts, I found this amazing diaper cakes. Diaper cakes make adorable baby shower centerpieces. They are made of real diapers and look like real cakes. All of the diapers are 100% useable, so aside from being beautiful, they are fully functional too. All new mothers need diapers. So, if we give them these diaper cakes, they will be excited as well as thankful, because we give them something that are cute as well as practical.

Another point for special baby gifts is to be personalized. Anything, including diaper cakes, plush toys, baby bags, or other things, than can be personalized with favorite characters, colors, and baby names, are more meaningful than the common ones we usually buy in department stores. Anyway, there are so many choices of amazing baby gifts our there; special gifts for special babies!

It Is Time for Car Insurance Renewal

Monday, April 28th, 2008

When it is time for car insurance renewal, it is like some big decision is to be made. Well, as we all know, car insurance is quite costly. If we don’t choose carefully, we might end up paying high premiums when the fact is that we can actually pay for the much lower car insurance premiums for the same car and coverage type. My car insurance will expire next month, so it is time to find some possibilities for the renewal.

The best way is to find out about some special offers from auto insurance companies out there. Who knows that some special offers can be applied to our conditions and needs? One auto insurance company offer a crash proof policy to protect our good driving record and to keep our insurance rates from a first at-fault accident; this means that we will not need to pay higher premium for renewal. We can also actually save our premiums up to 15% if we install some anti-theft devices in our automobiles. Another important thing is that if we have more than one automobile, we can save up to 20% by insuring in the same auto insurance company.

Once we are familiar with the auto insurance market, we need to get several auto insurance quotes from several companies and compare them. But we need to remember that lowest premiums and rates are not necessarily the best and the ones we need to choose. We also need to read all the coverage and overall package carefully.

I’d better start the process right away to get the best coverage and rate.
